The Riley Fittings History at St George
The RILEY Fittings name is synonymous with St George Sailing Club, having been started by Life Member and Club Champion Bill Riley back in 1946. Bill began manufacturing fittings in his garage after the timber fittings on his 10ft Skiff continued to fail. SAINT was also started in 1946 by Charles St. Julian and is now being operated by his great grandson, Jonathan St Julian, the fourth generation in this firmly Australian Made and Family Run business.
Jonathan St Julian, the Managing Director of SAINT Products (which houses Riley Fittings, Saint Marine, and many other brands) shared “As an Australian company founded in 1946, we’re proud to support the 16ft Skiff racing community through our partnership with the St George Sailing Club. Our fittings—whether shackles, thimbles, blocks, rudder gudgeons, or flexible tiller extensions—are used on nearly every 16ft Skiff at StGSC and across the country. We’ve built a reputation for quality and reliability over nearly 80 years, and our commitment to the sport is unwavering. We’re here to ensure that sailors get the performance they need on the water, and we’re excited to support the Club and its sailors throughout the 24-25 season.”
